What the Unseen Signs app and website keep, what they send and where, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. As much as possible stays on your own device.
1. Who is responsible
Unseen Signs is run by Kristian Kinchev, a private person in Bulgaria, who decides how your personal data is used and is responsible for it under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can write about anything in this policy to hello@unseensigns.com.
2. What stays on your device
Most of what you enter never leaves your phone or browser:
•
your name or nickname, and your birth date, time and place
•
the people you save and their birth details
•
your journal notes, mood check-ins, daily answers and score
•
your settings, including your notification choices
Your charts, the sky calendar and the daily notification lines are worked out on the device. On iPhone, the home-screen widget gets today’s signs from the app on the same device. You can delete all of this in You → Remove my profile and data, by deleting the app, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
3. What leaves your device, and why
•
Birthplace search beyond the built-in list. When you tap Search more places, the place name you typed is sent to Geoapify (Geoapify GmbH, Germany) to find it. Nothing else about you is sent.
•
The daily reading for your sign. The app asks our server for the day’s reading for a sign, for example Western Taurus. The request holds the sign and the date, nothing about you.
•
Personal readings, questions and dreams, only after you allow it in the app. We send the calculated positions in your chart (signs, degrees and houses) and the words you type or the dream you record to our reading server, which passes them to OpenAI (OpenAI, USA) to write the answer or to turn a recording into text. Your name, birth date, birth time and birthplace are not sent. Our server does not keep your question, your dream, the recording or the answer, and it asks OpenAI not to store the answer. OpenAI’s policies for its API say it does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse.
•
Your free weekly reading. To count the one free personal reading a week, our server gives your device a random ID that is not linked to your name or birth details. It records when you used a reading, kept for 30 days, and until when Premium is active if you have it.
•
Readings you report. If you tap Report under a reading, the title and text of that reading are kept for up to a year so that we can check it.
•
Activity measurement, only if you turn it on in You → Help improve Unseen Signs: the random ID, the date, and whether you opened the app, saved a mood or opened the timeline. It is kept for up to a year, and turning it off deletes it.
•
Notifications. The daily line is scheduled on your device by your phone’s own notification system. No server of ours is involved.
•
Personal alerts from our server, if the app offers them and you turn them on: your device’s push address, your tradition, your calculated rising degree, your chosen hour and your time zone go to our alert server, and the alerts are delivered through Expo (650 Industries, USA) and Apple or Google. Turning them off deletes this.
•
Share cards are made on your device and go only where you choose to share them.
•
Purchases. If you buy Premium, Apple or Google takes the payment. We never see your card details. The store only tells the app whether your subscription is active.
4. The website
unseensigns.com is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA), which handles the technical data any website receives, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the site. We use no advertising or analytics cookies and no trackers on the site. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie. If you use the app in your browser, its data stays in your browser’s storage.
5. Why we may use your data
•
Your consent: personal readings, questions and dreams, activity measurement and personal alerts. You can withdraw it at any time in the app; this does not affect what was done before.
•
To give you what you asked for: birthplace search, the daily reading, the free weekly reading and Premium.
•
Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure and free of abuse, checking readings you report, and running the website.
6. Who receives it
Geoapify, OpenAI, Cloudflare, the company that hosts our servers, Expo (only for personal alerts), and Apple or Google (for purchases and notifications), each only for the purpose above. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
OpenAI, Cloudflare and Expo are in the United States. Data sent to them is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the company takes part in it, or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
7. How long it is kept
•
On your device: until you delete it.
•
On our server: use records 30 days; reported readings and activity measurement up to a year; daily readings for each sign 3 days (they hold nothing about you); personal alert registrations until you turn them off.
•
With OpenAI: up to 30 days, under its own policies.
•
Removing your profile and data in You also deletes what our server holds for your device.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Because we do not know who you are, please include the Support ID shown on the Premium screen when you write to hello@unseensigns.com, so we can find the records tied to your device.
9. Children
Unseen Signs is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. How readings are made
Readings are written automatically, partly by an AI model, from positions calculated by astronomical formulas. They are for reflection and make no decisions about you.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we also tell you in the app.
